Daring Shark Namita Thapar says ‘No Regrets’ after rejecting competition
-by Vinni
The show has been a huge success, with the Season 2 premiere being one of the most-watched shows on television. The show has given aspiring entrepreneurs from all over the country the chance to showcase their ideas and receive valuable feedback from the “sharks”. The show has been a great platform for aspiring entrepreneurs to take their businesses to the next level.
The internet is abuzz with talk of Namita Thapar (one of the judges at the show) blunt rejection of the Recode makeup brand pitch on the show. Vineeta Singh, the CEO of Sugar Cosmetics and close friend of Namita, was the reason behind Namita’s strong stance against the competing brand.
The audience was surprised by Namita’s strong reaction, as it is not common to see a panellist rejecting a renowned brand’s pitch on a show. Namita’s loyalty to her friend and her stand for unfair competition made her the talk of the town. This controversy has become a great example of friendship, loyalty and unfair play.
Namita Thapar’s decision to reject Recode’s pitch has let down the audience as the Shark Tank India platform is intended to be a place where entrepreneurs, investors, and experts can come together to share, collaborate, and create a successful business ecosystem. It is a place that provides resources and tools to help entrepreneurs build and grow their businesses, and connects them with potential investors. Unfortunately, Recode did not receive the same opportunity as the other competitors.
Namita has been the target of online trolling after numerous fans expressed their opinions on Twitter. To this, Namita Thapar tweeted Tuesday afternoon, “Being a shark doesn’t mean we are not entitled to our independent values and speaking candidly so if I don’t invest in a fellow sharks competition, that’s me, no regrets & if I call out toxicity & don’t join the ignorant that celebrate people with lack of integrity.. that’s me :).”
This tweet has not been welcomed by many people as they feel Namita’s decision was impartial and that she has violated the spirit of the show. All in all, the episode has raised many eyebrows and has left a lot of people questioning if Shark Tank India is really a platform that provides unbiased judgement.
